TRANSPORT MINISTERS POSTPONE MEETING UNDER KARS-AKHALKALAKI-TBILISI RAILWAY ROUTE

A meeting of the transport ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey under the project on construction of Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway route, originally scheduled for 24 August, has been postponed to early December.

Nadir Azmammadov, the spokesman for the Azerbaijan State Railway Department (ASRD), explained the delay with the busy schedule of three countries.

"Ministers of Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey together made a resolution on postponement of the meeting and at present the date of the meeting is being determined,” he noted.

The length of the route is 98km, with 68km running via Turkey and 30km вЂ" via Georgia. As of initial data, the project on construction of the railway route Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku requires $400m.
