The Asian Development Bank (ADB) is probable to allot some $100m for the reconstruction and construction of the Alat-Astara automobile route. The government told Trend at present the international financial institute voiced its readiness for financing and the initial discussions are underway now. The funds can be approved even next year.
Earlier it was announced that the ADB is ready to finance the projects on road construction in Azerbaijan in the amount of some $300m. ADB regarded the Southern direction as more interesting, however, it has no principle significance and the bank is ready to allot funds for financing the reconstruction and construction of the highway in any other direction.
The ADB is also expected to approve $100m for the reconstruction and construction of the Baku вЂ" Georgian border road.
The total length of roads in Azerbaijan is 24,000km, of which 6,000km are main roads and 18,000km вЂ" local roads. The reconstruction and construction in Azerbaijan requires over $2bn.
