BUSINESS FORUM OF AZERI, N CYPRIOT ENTREPRENEURS STARTS IN BAKU

A business-forum of the entrepreneurs of Azerbaijan and the Northern Cyprus started in Baku on Tuesday. Ahmet Erentok, the chairman of the Board of Directors of the Azerbaijani-Turkish Businessmen, said that 84-member delegation arrived from the Northern Cyprus to Baku by a direct flight and it assumes special importance for the expansion of bilateral cooperation.

"At present Azerbaijan is a leading country in the Caucasus region from the economic and political aspect. Some measures have been taken in the country, while definite changes were injected in the legislation.

The laws envisage equal right for the local and foreign businessmen. The foreign entrepreneurs enjoy a right for participation in the privatization of public property,” he stressed.

Erentok noted that Azerbaijan had broad opportunities for investing. Last year the amount of investments in the Azerbaijani economy made up $5bn, including $3.7bn foreign capital.

The chairman of the Board of Director of the ATIB also spoke about incomes which the country will receive from oil projects. "If oil comprise $24 per barrel, them the government’s incomes might total $50-60bn within 20 years.

However, after 20 years the oil prices are forecasted to comprise $100-150 per barrel. Therefore, I am sure that Azerbaijan’s incomes will not be less than $200bn,В" he noted.

In his turn, Rauf Denktash, the First President of the Northern Cyprus, appreciated the steps taken by Azerbaijan for the bilateral cooperation. Following Azerbaijan several Turkic appealed to the Northern Cyprus with a proposal of cooperation. "We are sure that Azerbaijan will be a model for Turkish and Islamic countries in this respect,” he noted.

Serdar Denktash, the Vice Premier of the Northern Cyprus, also the Foreign Minister, noted the importance of developing the economy of his country, which is imposed to embargo. Azerbaijan could play considerable role in it, he underlined.
