A delegation of Azerbaijan comprising experts of the Transport Ministry (TM) and the Ministry of Economic Development (MED) left for Manila on 5 September 2005, the Ministry told Trend. The purpose of the visit is to hold discussions with representatives of the Asian Bank of Development, as well as participating in unsealing bids, announced for selection of the consultant to render services to Azerbaijan for developing the “Transport Strategy of Azerbaijan”.
The Asian Bank of Development (ABD) allocated grant for of $350,000 for developing the Transport Strategy. A relevant agreement was signed between the Ministry and the Bank in this respect.
The document will reflect development of the country’s transport infrastructure, the ways for attracting cargo for transport corridors, going through Azerbaijan, increase of traffic volumes, construction and rehabilitation of roads, transport facilities and so on.
The Ministry noted, after accomplishment of the tender procedure in September developing of the document is supposed.
