WORKING GROUP OF AZERI RAILWAY DEPARTMENT OFF TO TURKEY

A working group of the Azerbaijan State Railway Department (ASRD) left for Istanbul, Turkey, on Saturday to discuss some issues with their Turkish and Georgian counterpart
under he project of construction of the Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku railway route.

Nadir Azmammadov, the spokesman for the ASRD, told Trend that Igbal Husseynov, the deputy head of the ASRD, led the Azerbaijani delegation.

During the meeting the sides will define the exact day of the meeting of Transport Ministers of the three countries. "If the sides agree, the Ministers can meet on 19-20 September," Azmammadov noted.

The length of the route is 98km, including 68km running via Turkey and 30km via Georgia. As initial calculations, $400m is required for the construction of the Kars-Akhalkalaki-Tbilisi-Baku route.
