REPRESENTATIVES OF UN FOOD AND AGRICULTURAL ORGANIZATION TO ARRIVE IN BAKU

Arrival of the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) delegation is expected in Baku in late September. The main goal of the delegates’s visit is implementation of measures envisioned by the new project on technical assistance in arranging information and monitoring systems in farmers’ households, the Ministry of Agriculture told Trend .

The Ministry noted the project was to be launched in July, however, due to some reasons its implementation delayed. The project’s cost is $276,000 and it will be implementing since September 2005 till November 2006.

The basic objective of the project is assessment of the farmer’s economies activities effectiveness, as well as establishing the database system for entering information on measures taken in the mentioned objects.

Apart from this, as earlier noted, the director general of this organization Jacque Duff said during his visit in Baku in the current April, opening of the representative office in Azerbaijan is planned shortly.

The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations - FAO is the first UN specialized institution founded on 16 October 1945, which members number is 150. The goal of the organization is technical assistance in agriculture, food production and etc. The organizations’ headquarters is in Rome.
