STATE PROGRAM ON REHABILITATION AND DEVELOPMENT OF MOTOR ROADS NETWORK TO BE APPROVED TILL YEAR END

The state program on rehabilitation and development of the motor roads network for 2005-2014, elaborated by the Azerbaijan’s Transport Ministry will be approved till the year-end, the Transport Ministry told Trend. The state program is submitted to the country’s Cabinet of Ministers for consideration.

Earlier the Cabinet of Ministers assessed positively the state program. After the approval the document will be forwarded to the President’s office”, the Ministry noted.

Construction of over 8,000 km of motor roads is planned in the framework of the project. Over 1,000 km from them are main highways connecting Azerbaijan with the international transport routes, particularly, from the north to the south, starting from the Russian border through Baku, Alyat to Iran, as well as to Georgia in the west. All the roads will be of the 1-st category, dual-dual highways, meeting the international standards. The works are planned to complete during 3 years.

The total amount of $1,5 billion is envisaged to spend on the state program.
