FAO holds workshop for Azeri specialists

“The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations FAO held a workshop on application, implementation and appraisal of extraordinary plan at intensification foot-and-mouth and different rapidly spreading infectious diseases for the Azerbaijani specialists in Guba on Friday,” the State Veterinary Service told Trend.

Attendin the event were the coordinator of the FAO Andrei Rostalnin, epizootic specialists, as well as heads of the veterinary services of the 7 regions Beylagan, Bilasuvar, Imishli, Guba, Gusar, Ganja and Tovuz.

The service also noted that Azerbaijan received over 400,000 doses of vaccines for struggle with the diseases in line of the organization.

The workshop touched ways of the implementation of extraordinary plans on infectious diseases, goals and functions in the sphere, ways of prevention of diseases.

The Service also noted that it was the first similar workshop held in Azerbaijan with support of the FAO.

The FAO is the first specialized establishment of the UN, founded on 16 October 1945. It has 150 members. The goal of the organization is to render technical aid in agriculture, produce agricultural products, as well as products of timber and fish-processing industry. The headquarters of the FAO locates in Rome.
