From early 2005 Azerbaijan harvested 132,653 tons cotton or 34,740 tons more as compared 2004, The Agriculture Ministry told Trend.
“Cotton harvest was determined at 185,000 tons, but the specialist visited sown areas allege that the figure may reach up to 200,000 tons under favorable conditions,” The Ministry underlined.
Cotton is grown in 21 regions of the country, particularly, in the economic regions Salyan-Mughan, Karabakh and Shirvan.
In 2005Cotton was sown at 77,700 hectares area, while harvest comprised 135,000 tons.
“Cotton harvest is currently continuing and planned to be completed till late October,” the Ministry stressed.
