Issue of Azerbaijan’s membership in the coordinating board of the North-South transport corridor project will be decided till late November

The issue of the Azerbaijan’s membership in the coordinating board of the North-South transport corridor project has been discussed in Delhi, the Azerbaijan State Railway (ASR) told Trend. "The project’s coordinating board will make a decision on the membership of Azerbaijan. At the moment the issue is under consideration”, ASR noted.

The consortium within this project has been set up at the last meeting of the working group in Tehran. The consortium’s head office will be located in Moscow, with the branches in Baku and Tehran. The consortium consists of Azerbaijan, Iran and Russia. The ASR’s share is $60 million.

A section of 8,3 km length of the new railway line Kazvin-Resht-Astara (Iran)-Astara (Azerbaijan) is to be built in Azerbaijan. The project includes also construction of a bridge over Astara-chay with the length of 101 meters, which will be implemented per 50% by Azerbaijan and Iran.
