Changes injected to project of automobile highway Alat-Astara-Iranian border

Some changes were injected in the project of the Alat-Astara-Iranian border automobile, the Road and Transport Services Department of the Transport Ministry told Trend. At present Iranian company Passillo is involved in the development of the feasibility study of the project at the expense of $2m Iranian grant.

The length of the road is expected to reduce by 50-70km at the expense of the use of by-pass roads. In compliance with the initial project the length of the motor highway is 243km.

$400m is required for the construction and reconstruction of the Alat-Astara highway. $300m of the sum will be allocated by the World Bank and the rest $100m will be covered by Azerbaijan ($60m) and Iran ($40m).

Iran voiced his readiness to allot $40m credit. At present Azerbaijan and Iran are holding consultations in respect to terms of crediting.
