French banks interested in financing radio-navigation equipment of two airports in Azerbaijan

French banks take interests in financing the project on the equipment of Nakhchivan and Ganja airports with radio-navigation devices, Trend reports quoting Etibar Husseynov, the vice chairman of the AZAL state air company on exploitation and construction of airports. The banks offer to allocate 15m euro under state guarantees.

Husseynov noted that at present the construction work was underway in Ganja airport, in particular, the airport terminal with the area of around 14,000 sq m. it can be increased future from 15,000 sq m. Besides, it is planned to carry out the construction of a cargo terminal with the area of 2,000 sq m. "We plan to commission the terminal by 15 November and use it as a passenger terminal until the completion o the airport terminal,” he underlined .

All the work in the airport is carried out at thee expense of the public budget. Husseynov said that the total cost of the project is 200bn manats. At present Siemens installs illuminating signalization, while Azerairnavigation, part of AZAL state company, is involved in the implementation of the work over radio-navigation.

Husseynov noted that full commissioning of the airport was scheduled for mid-2006. The discharge capacity of the Ganja airport is 300-500 passenger an hour.
