“Abbreviation of new denominated manats in Azerbaijan was changed,” Rufat Aslanli, a member of the Board of the National Bank, told Trend in an exclusive interview. According to Aslanli, abbreviation AYM was replaced by AZN.
New abbreviation appeared in relation to the plans on denomination of manat (1 AZN = 5,000 AZM). New banknotes will be in turnover from 1 February 2006 and replace the old ones from 1 January 2007.
