Veterinary Service under Agriculture Ministry denies information on existence of bird flu

“The information on existence of the bird flu in Azerbaijan is not true. The laboratory research sis not reveal any signs of the disease in the country,” Emin Shahbazov, the head of the Veterinary Service under the Agriculture Ministry, told Trend.

According to Shahbazov, the work on monitoring of the Absheron Peninsula, Davachi and other regions will be continued by the representatives of the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, the Health Ministry, the National Academy of Sciences and the Veterinary Service.

“We take all necessary measures on prevention of the bird flu, including increase of control on the border, holding of meeting with owners of enterprises twice in a week,” Shahbazov said.

The head of the service also stressed that they gave recommendations on liquidation of poultry breeding by the employees of broiler enterprises.

The poultry factory in the Davachi region started issuing of compensations to their employees and the sum currently comprises 20m manats,” Shahbazov concluded.
