From January to October 2005 tobacco harvest in Azerbaijan comprised 6,900 tons or 0,760 tons more as compared 2004, the Azerbaijani Agriculture Ministry told Trend.
The Ministry noted that the forecast on tobacco harvest for 2005 was determined at approximately 8,000 tons or 1,300 tons more as compared 2004.
Tobacco is grown in the economic regions Shaki-Zagatala, Gakh, Gabala and Balakan.
In 2005 3,000 hectares were sown with tobacco.
In 2004 tobacco production made up 6,500 tons.
