Cotton harvest comprises 183,500 tons

As of 14 November 2005 cotton harvest in Azerbaijan comprised 183,500 tons, or 52,500 tons more as compared 2004, the Agriculture Ministry told Trend.

The harvest forecast for 2005 is determined at 185,000 tons, while specialists consider that the figure may reach 200,000 tons.

“The total sown area was 112,000 in 2005,” the Ministry underlined.

The Ministry said that harvest process was considerably delaying due to lack of technique and it might be completed in favor weather conditions till late November.

Cotton is sown in 21 regions, particularly, in economic regions such as Salyan-Mughan, Karabakh and Shirvan.

In 2004 cotton was sown in 77,700 hectares, while the harvest made up 135,000 tons.
