Bird flu not observed in Azerbaijan, Agriculture Ministry

The next monitoring on determination of existence of bird flu in Azerbaijan is scheduled for 28 November. “It will come as 4th monitoring in line held in the country level,” Emin Shahbazov, the deputy head of the Veterinary Service under the Agriculture Ministry, told Trend.

According to Shahbazov, the 3rd complex monitoring with participation of the specialists of the Veterinary Service, the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry, the Health Ministry, the Azerbaijan Hunters’ Society started on 9 November has been completed. The final results of the monitoring will be publicized next week.

“We conducted 1046 blood tests,” Shahbazov stressed.

He said that they conducted monitoring on Absheron Peninsula, the national parks Shirvan and Aghgol, the Gizilaghaj State Natural Reserve, the Caspian coast did not reveal any signs of the disease.

Besides, they also take all necessary measures on prevention of the bird flu, including increase of control on the border, holding of meeting with owners of enterprises twice in a week.

In its turn, the Ecology and Natural Resources Ministry take measures on non-admission of the disease to the country. It prolonged the ban on bird hunting in the country in this regard.
