Ismat Abbasov, the Azerbaijani Agriculture Minister, left for Italy with an official visit. The Ministry told Trend the key objective of the visit was to participate in the 33rd session of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations FAO Conference to be held in Italy from 19 to 26 November 2005.
The Azerbaijani Minister is going to put forward the issue on the rehabilitation of Azerbaijan’s vote as a full member of the organization. Azerbaijan has been a full member of FAO since October 1995. However, the organization took a resolution to deprive Azerbaijan from a right of vote since it had not paid membership fees for a while.
In his remarks Abbasov is going to concentrate on such circumstances, as well as the opening of a representation of FAO in Baku at the resolution taken in Baku during the visit of Jacques Dufet, the head of the organization, expansion of cooperation with FAO through expansion of joint projects.
