Turkmen President Gurbanguly Berdimuhammadov has been acquainted with the activities carried out on the major Galkynysh gas field, the Turkmen government said on Friday.
When visiting asections of the giant field, where CNPC carries out the work, Turkmen President drew attention to the challenges on diversification of development of fuel and energy complex and supply of the Turkmen energy resources to the world markets.
"Stressing the importance of wide use of advanced technologies in the working process, the President urged to accelerate the work," the report says.
Turkmen leader also visited the plot allocated for companies Petrofac International (UAE) LLC. and Hyundai Engineering Co., Ltd.
"The president stressed the need for timely commissioning of facilities being built here and instructed to take appropriate measures to accelerate the work," the report says.
According to the company Gaffney, Cline & Associates, the maximum reserves of Galkynysh, exceeds 26 trillion cubic meters of natural gas.
The Turkmengas State Concern signed service contracts with Gulf Oil & Gas Fze, Petrofac International LLC (UAE), CNPC Chuanging Drilling Engineering Company (PRC) and a consortium of LG Internatinal Corp and Hyudai Engineering (South Korea) for a total of $9.7 billion in December 2009.
