Modernising three existing refineries will allow Kazakhstan to export up to two million oil products, commercial director of the Kazakh national company KazMunaiGas Processing and Marketing, Azamat Akishev said at the sixth Caspian Oil and Gas Trading and Transportation Conference in Baku on Monday.
He said the surplus of oil products in Kazakhstan will reach two million tons following the modernisation of Atyrau and Shymkent Refineries and the Pavlodar petrochemical plant, which will be completed by 2016.
The total processing capacity of Kazakh oil refineries following the modernisation will increase from a current 14 million tons to 17 million tons. The refining depth will increase to 90 per cent. The production of light oil products will also significantly increase, Akishev said.
