The Georgian Energy Ministry is considering the building a power plant running on locally sourced coal at Tkibuli, Energy Minister Kakha Kaladze said in an interview to the Caucasia TV company.
He said the station should meet European and environmental security standards.
The minister noted that Georgia has sufficient coal reserves, so the station can operate on locally sourced raw materials.
Kaladze also emphasised the importance of using wind power. He said projects in the alternative energy field ready in a month, will be implemented at Samtskhe-Javakheti.
