Azerbaijan, Baku, Feb. 21 / Trend E. Ismayilov /

Despite structural changes made in the structure of Azeriqaz production association of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR), the association will continue the process of providing gas supplies to all regions of the country, a source in SOCAR told Trend.

As the source said, at present, work on providing and improving gas supply within the country continues rapidly. Until the end of this year, the level of gas supply in the country should reach 95 percent.

"By the end of this year, the provision of gas supply process will be completed, and further work will be carried out by Azeriqaz," the source said.

The remaining part (five percent) will not be covered due to the remoteness of settlements, and economical inexpediency of providing them with gas supplies.

Earlier, according to SOCAR's decision on the improvement of the structure of Azeriqaz production association, gas mains in Azerbaijan were subordinated to SOCAR Gas Export Department, source in Azeriqaz told Trend.

Accordingly, all regional gas mains will remain under control of Azeriqaz.

SOCAR includes the production association Azneft (companies producing oil and gas on land and sea) and Production Association Azerkimya (chemical industry), and the Azeriqaz production association (gas distribution).

In addition, there are numerous processing and service enterprises and institutions engaged in geophysical and drilling operations within the State Oil Company.
