The use of LED lamps in Kazakhstan will help save funds required for the construction of three large power stations, Chairman of the Board of Kazatomprom national company Vladimir Shkolnik said at a meeting with representatives of national companies and ministries of energy development.

"If LED lamps are used throughout the country, it will be possible to save money that can be used to build three stations like Ekibastuz - 1 power station," Shkolnik said.

He added that this would save 1.5 gigabytes of capacity.

Ekibastuz-1 power plant is the largest thermal power plant in Ekibastuz, in the Pavlodar region of Kazakhstan. The design capacity is 4,000 MW, operating capacity - about 3,000 MW.
