Ilgar Veliyev, Country Managing Partner of Ernst & Young in Azerbaijan, gave a presentation at the 20th International Caspian Oil & Gas Conference 2013 which was held at the Jumeirah Bilgah Beach Hotel from 5-6 June 2013. The presentation focused on facilitating the sustainable development of the oil and gas industry in Azerbaijan.

Ilgar Veliyev, Country Managing Partner of Ernst & Young in Azerbaijan, gave a presentation at the 20th International Caspian Oil & Gas Conference 2013 which was held at the Jumeirah Bilgah Beach Hotel from 5-6 June 2013. The presentation focused on facilitating the sustainable development of the oil and gas industry in Azerbaijan.

Ilgar Veliyev described the main idea and principles of sustainable development as a concept to be adopted in the day-to-day activity of the business. He stressed that focus on sustainability helps organizations manage their social and environmental impact and improve operating efficiency and natural resource stewardship. It is also a differentiator in competitive industries and fosters investor confidence, trust and employee loyalty. Furthermore, Ilgar Veliyev highlighted the risks and opportunities related to the industry and talked about best global practices in this area and ways of mitigating the negative impact of business.

"I believe that key players in the oil and gas industry of Azerbaijan can have a significant impact on the development of our country by implementing sustainable strategies. We can already see examples with such companies as SOCAR, BPO, Statoil, and others," said Ilgar.
