Azerbaijan, Baku, June 13 / Trend R. Hafizoglu /

Turkish Petroleum Corporation TPAO will further expand the scope of activity outside the country, chairman of the Energy Commission of the Turkish Parliament Mucahit Findikli said in an interview with Dunya newspaper today.

He added that the country has set a goal for TPAO oil and gas company to be more represented on the foreign markets.

He also added that, if necessary, TPAO may even be put up for privatization to achieve ambitious goals.

He added that despite the prospects of developing its activity, TPAO has some problems.

"One of TPAO's problems is connected with low wages," he said. "Currently, the average salary in the corporation is 3,000 lira. Qualified specialists move from TPAO to such companies as Shell, BP and Exxon."

He added that at present, TPAO possesses about 65 percent of the land plots and water area of Turkey.

The official exchange rate is 1,8758 TL/USD on June 13.
