The Azerbaijani State Oil Company (SOCAR) sent around 152,800 tons of oil products to the Georgian market for sale in January-August 2013, the Head of Marketing and Economic Operations Department of SOCAR Adnan Ahmedzadeh said in his interview to Caspian Energy journal.

According to him, around 109,200 tons of diesel fuel, 13,800 tons of gasoline, 29,500 tons of jet fuel and some 300 tons of fuel oil was sent by the department for sale in the Georgian market.

"Gas stations opened by SOCAR Energy Georgia began operating in Georgia's territory since 2008. Currently some 110 refuelling stations operate in Georgia and SOCAR Energy Georgia plans to bring their number to 115 by the end of this year," Ahmedzadeh said.

According to him, the major part of oil products sold within the export agreements of the Marketing and Economic Operations Department is delivered to the world economy through SOCAR's Black Sea terminal of Kulevi in Georgia. This means around 519,000 tons of diesel fuel was sent to the world market through the terminal in January-August which equals 82 per cent of the total volume of diesel fuel exported by the company.

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan is the only producer of oil products with two refineries on its balance sheet in Azerbaijan and also owns refuelling stations in Azerbaijan, Georgia, Ukraine and Romania and also has a network of refuelling stations in Switzerland.
