Iran's oil ministry is currently negotiating with European companies over investment in the country's energy projects, the Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zanganeh said on Sunday.

He refused to comment on possible negotiations with American firms, the Tasnim News Agency reported.

Zanganeh went on to note that Iran averagely imports 2 to 4 million liters of gasoline per day.

"We have no difficulty in providing enough gas during the cold months, but since 5 projected phases of South Pars gas field have not come on stream yet, the country's national gas network is facing sever shortages," he said.

"The recent sanctions proved that the income of exporting only one million barrels of oil per day is enough for the Iranian government," Zanganeh said.

"Sanctions will not last forever," he added.

"Iran needs to accelerate the completion of its development projects," he said.
