Azerbaijan’s hydropower plants reduce electricity production by almost quarter

In January-November 2013 Azerbaijan produced 18.5 billion kilowatt/hours of electricity, which is 0.2 percent more than the same period of the last year, Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee (SSC) told Trend on Dec. 16.

The SSC said 17.23 billion kilowatt/hours of electricity produced in January-November accounted for the thermal power plants. This is 2.6 percent more than the figures of the same period of 2012.

In January-November 2013 Azerbaijan's hydropower plants produced about 1.28 billion kilowatt/hours of electricity, which is lower than the same period of the last year by 23.9 percent.

Azerenergy is engaged in production and distribution of electricity in Azerbaijan.
