The political instability in Ukraine will not affect the import of Russian gas to Turkey, Turkish Minister of Energy and Natural Resources Taner Yildiz told media on Feb. 27, Turkish TRT Haber TV channel reported.

"Turkey also hopes that Gazprom, supplying Russian gas through the Ukraine to other countries, will not to stop exporting gas," he said.

President Yanukovych was ousted as a result of protests in Ukraine. At present, a new government is being formed and early elections are being prepared.

The Turkish state pipeline company Botas imported 38.42 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources in 2013, compared to 43.09 billion cubic meters in 2012.

Turkey buys Russian gas for $425 per 1000 cubic meters, Turkish media reported.

Turkey has a contract with Russia to supply 20 billion cubic meters of gas.
