Oil shipment volumes from Ceyhan terminal increase by over 15%

Around 1.96 billion barrels of oil have been shipped since June 2, 2006, by the Turkish Botas International Limited (BIL) Company compared to 1.7 billion barrels as of June 10, 2013, BIL reported on June 10.

Since 2001, BIL has been engaged in the exploitation of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline over the territory of Turkey.

Around 2,555 tankers were shipped from Ceyhan during the reporting period compared to 2,204 tankers with oil as of June 10, 2013, the report said.

The total length of the BTC pipeline is 1768 kilometers of which 443 goes through Azerbaijan, 249 kilometers through Georgia and 1076 through Turkey.

Construction of the pipeline started in April 2003 and began flowing with oil on May 18, 2005.

Stockholders of BTC Co established on August 1, 2002, are BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.40 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.50 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
