U.S. significantly increases import of Azerbaijani oil products

In January-April 2014, the U.S. imported 48,000 barrels of oil products from Azerbaijan versus 46,000 barrels in the same period last year, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said.

In January-April 2014, the U.S. imported 48,000 barrels of oil products from Azerbaijan versus 46,000 barrels in the same period last year, the U.S. Energy Information Administration (EIA) said.

In 2013, the U.S. imported 366,000 barrels of oil products from Azerbaijan versus to 46,000 barrels in the same period of 2012.

After a long hiatus in 2012, the U.S. imported just 46,000 barrels of oil products from Azerbaijan, whereas in 2008 this country received 308,000 barrels of oil products from Azerbaijan.

Oil products are produced at two Baku refineries with a total capacity of 16 million tonnes per year. Both refineries belong to SOCAR, which annually process approximately seven million tonnes of oil at offshore and onshore fields at its own expense.
