SOCAR improves cooling system at its refinery

The State Oil Company of Azerbaijan (SOCAR) will construct new cooling equipment at the refinery named after Heydar Aliyev in Baku, the company reported.

The decision on the construction of a new facility was made due to the inadequacy of the existing cooling equipment during the warm season, the report said.

The equipment of the French "Hamon Thermal Europe" production has been chosen within the framework of the project's implementation.

The capacity of the equipment makes up 7,000 cubic meters per day, and it was designed on the basis of the plans to bring the capacity up to 7.5 million tonnes per year for the primary processing of oil at the refinery and up to three million tonnes for catalytic cracking. Also, the needs of the equipments which are planned to be constructed here in the future have been taken into account while designing the project.

At present, the project is in the preparation stage for the start of construction.

The oil products are produced at two Baku oil refineries with total capacity of 16 million tonnes of oil per year. Both oil refineries belong to SOCAR, which annually processes approximately seven million tons of oil extracted onshore and offshore through its own funds.
