Tajikistan decreases oil products manufacturing

Manufacturing of oil products in Tajikistan decreased by 14 percent since the beginning of 2014, Avesta.Tj reported on Sept. 24 citing the country's ministry of energy and water resources.

In January-August 2014, Tajikistan manufactured about 16,000 metric tons of oil products, according to the ministry's data.

Industrial production index in oil products manufacturing decreased due to reducing gasoline production - by 19.5 percent, bitumen - by 17.9 percent.

According to the Ministry of Economic Development and Trade of the country in ensuring Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants, the Republic is totally dependent on imports. Imports of petroleum products come from Russia, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.

In January-July, 2014, Tajikistan imported 350,268 metric tons of oil products, which is 130,500 metric tons more than during the same period of 2013, according to the country's ministry of economic development and trade.
