Turkey increases gas import and consumption

Turkish state-run pipeline company Botas imported 28.88 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources in January-September 2014 compared to 27.85 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2013, Botas said.

Turkey imports gas from Azerbaijan, which is supplied via the South Caucasus Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum).

Botas imported a total of 38.42 billion cubic meters of gas from various sources in 2013 compared to 43.09 billion cubic meters in 2012.

Some 531 million cubic meters of gas accounted for Botas export operations in January-September 2014 compared to 488 million cubic meters in the same period of last year.

Some 694 million cubic meters of gas accounted for Botas export operations in 2013 compared to 622 million cubic meters in 2012.

The company said that some 29.45 billion cubic meters of gas was sold in the Turkish domestic market in January-September compared to 27.02 billion cubic meters in January-September 2013.

Last year, this figure was over 37.96 billion cubic meters compared to 41.44 billion cubic meters in 2012.
