The growth rate of natural and associated gas production in Turkmenistan stood at 110.8 percent as of the first eleven months of 2014, compared to the same period of 2013, the country's Ministry of Oil and Gas Industry and Natural Resources said.

This is while the volume of gas export to foreign countries equaled 110.6 percent during the reporting period, according to the ministry.

Currently, Turkmenistan has the opportunity to export natural gas to China, Iran and Russia. The Trans-Caspian gas pipeline across the Caspian Sea to Europe through Azerbaijan and the TAPI gas pipeline are among the pipelines planned to run from Turkmenistan.

Turkmenistan ranks fourth for the volume of natural gas reserve in the world after Russia, Iran and Qatar, according to the report of British Petroleum (BP) company.

The country's largest fields are concentrated in the Mary province in the country's east - around the Galkynysh field - with total resources estimated by local geologists and British GCA within 26.2 trillion cubic meters.

Around 70 billion cubic meters of gas is produced in Turkmenistan per year. Under the program for development of the country's oil and gas industry, it is planned to increase this figure to 230 billion cubic meters by 2030 and the major part of this volume is considered for export.
