Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan), one of the operators on the Caspian Sea's Turkmen shelf, is developing the offshore oil and gas production, taking into account environmental and social aspects, the Neutral Turkmenistan newspaper said.

Petronas Carigali (Turkmenistan) is a subsidiary of Petronas, the Malaysian national petroleum company.

The article said the company, upgrading the coastal infrastructure and installing production platforms, expects to significantly increase oil production.

The newspaper said the development of the previously untouched fields in the Caspian Sea's Turkmen sector, which have sufficient oil reserves, is among the long-term plans of the company.

It was also noted that an offshore platform at the Magtymguly field provides an automated production of the hydrocarbon product from offshore wells, separation and injection of 350,000 cubic meters of natural gas and 25,000 barrels of gas condensate into main pipelines every day.

The newspaper underscored that soon the drilling of three more wells will start at the drilling platform, which in the long term will allow producing even more valuable raw material - gas and condensate.

Three pipelines stretching over 70 kilometers were connected to the platform to pump the natural gas and condensate to the gas treatment plant in the Kiyanly township.

The article said the first offshore oil production platform started to work in Turkmenistan at the 'Block No. 1' contract area in 2006. It was a mobile offshore production unit and a floating storage.
