Output of Iran's South Pars gas field phases 15 and 16 hit 29 million cubic meters per day.

Reza Forouzesh, Development Manager of South Pars phases 15 and 16, said the fourth gas sweetening train of the refinery of phases 15 and 16 came on stream, the Shana news agency reported on Dec. 28.

On Dec. 2, phase 16 supplied its first consignment of refined natural gas, equalling 7.5 million cubic meters, to the national network.

Phases 15 and 16 are projected to produce 56.6 million cubic meters of gas per day, and 1.05 million metric tons of liquid gas (propane and butane) and one million tons of ethane per year.

South Pars is part of a wider gas field that is shared with Qatar.

The larger field covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran's territorial waters (South Pars) in the Persian Gulf.

The remaining 6,000 square kilometers, referred to as the North Dome, are in Qatar's territorial waters.
