Astana will host the first international forum on the geological exploration of oil and gas titled 'Kazakhstan Geology Forum, Oil & Gas 2015', president of the Society of Petroleum Geologists of Kazakhstan Baltabek Kuandikov told Trend on Feb.12.
He said the forum will be held on March 12-13, 2015.
"The oil and gas geology topic will be discussed at such a high level for the first time since Kazakhstan gained independence," said Kuandikov.
He said this topic will be discussed with the participation of well-known geologists, geophysicists, specialists, academics, and representatives of leading foreign oil and gas companies and government bodies.
Specialists have long ago stated that the era of easily recoverable oil is over, Kuandikov added.
He said today the geological exploration work should be organized in accordance with different principles than before. Kuandikov emphasized the use of innovations in this regard.
He expressed hope that the upcoming forum will be a full-fledged professional platform which will allow to make more effective decisions.
Alongside with the Society of Petroleum Geologists of Kazakhstan, the country's Energy Ministry, Investment and Development Ministry, Kazenergy Association and KazMunaiGas national company will be the organizers of the forum.
