Turkey and Turkmenistan discussed the transportation of Turkmen gas through the Caspian Sea to Europe, the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said March 3.

He made the remarks at a joint press conference in Ankara held with Turkmenistan's President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, TRT Haber news channel reported.

Erdogan said that along with the energy projects, the parties also mulled a number of other projects.

He said Turkmenistan is a key country for the transportation of gas from Central Asia to the European market, adding that the country is making efforts to take advantage of this opportunity.

The president said Turkey and Turkmenistan have similar view points on this important issue.

Erdogan added that the economic and trade ties of Turkey and Turkmenistan make the relations between the two countries strategic.

He also said the region's countries, in particular Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan and Turkey, meet regularly to discuss a range of projects.

"Azerbaijan, Turkey and Turkmenistan are expected to have a meeting this year in Ashgabat to discuss a number of projects," said the president.
