The drilling contractor, SOCAR-AQS, the 51-percent share which is held by Azerbaijan's state oil company SOCAR, will soon start drilling of a new well at the Gunashli field in the shallow part of Caspian Sea.

The company told Trend on April 3 that the drilling of the well No. 344 at the Guneshli field would be carried out from the fixed offshore platform No.11.

"The well No.344 will be drilled until the 'Fasila' suite, and its design depth will be 3,150 meters. According to the plan, the daily debit of the well will be 60 metric tons," said the company.

Azneft Production Association ordered the work.

SOCAR-AQS was established in 2007 by SOCAR and Absheron Drilling as a joint venture, providing integrated services for drilling and well servicing.

Currently, SOCAR-AQS mainly conducts drilling from the fixed platform No. 11 in the shallow part of the Guneshli field, as well as from the platform No. 1 at the Umid field.

Simultaneously, the company continues to prepare for drilling of wells at the Western Absheron, Bulla and Gunashli-7 fields.

SOCAR, jointly with foreign partners, is developing the deep-water part of the Gunashli field as part of the Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block.
