The volume of oil transported via the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline in Jan.-March 2015, stood at 9.1 million metric tons, or 5.5 percent more than in the same period of 2014, Azerbaijani State Statistical Committee said in its report.
"BTC transported 77.9 percent of the total volume of oil transported via the country's main oil pipelines," said the report on Q1 of 2015.
The State Statistical Committee said that 11.7 million metric tons of oil was transported via the country's main oil pipelines, which is 2.3 percent more than in the same period of 2014.
The total length of the BТС is 1,768 kilometers including a 443 kilometer-long section running through Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer long section in Georgia and a 1,076-kilometer long section in Turkey. The construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.
BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).
The South Caucasus gas pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) transported 1.8 billion cubic meters of gas in Jan.-March, compared to 1.6 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2014, said the report.
In total, 6.3 billion cubic meters of gas was transported via the country's main gas pipelines in Jan.-March, compared to 6.2 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2014, according to the report.
The length of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline exceeds 700 kilometers. The gas produced from the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is transported via this pipeline. Gas is delivered to Georgia and Turkey. At the same time, Azerbaijan is also a gas buyer.
