Iran has inaugurated a new phase of giant South Pars gas field.

The project's manager Hassan Boveiri said the phase is expected to deliver 14 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) within 1 days, but didn't mention the current production level.

The gas, produced from the Platform A of phase 18 will transfer to refineries of phases 15 and 16 for now, but it is planned to commence the refinery units of phases 17 and 18 in future.

National Iranian Drilling Company has finished drilling 11 wells in giant South Pars gas field's phase 17, IRNA reported on May 28.

Iran started early gas production from phases 12, 15 and 16 last year, by producing about 50 mcm/d more gas in average.

The country's gas production capacity increased by 100 mcm/d last year to 660 mcm/d, while Iran is to keep this growth rate for 2015 as well.

Phases 15 to 18 is projected to produce 25 to 30 mcm/d of gas each one, while the gas output of phase 12 will reach 82 mcm/d when become full operational.

Until now, Iran inaugurated phases 1 to 10, but development of other 14 phases of South Pars continues. Iran is planned to produce 720 mcm/d of gas from South Pars by 2019.
