Suspension of the operation of West Azeri platform has affected the daily production volume at Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of oil and gas fields, BP's regional president for Azerbaijan, Georgia and Turkey, Gordon Birrell told reporters June 3.

He said that such suspensions undoubtedly affect the production.

However, as the scheduled maintenance is taken into account in the annual production forecasts, it doesn't affect the overall indexes, according to Birrell.

BP's regional president added that after the West Azeri, it is planned to carry out scheduled maintenance at Chirag platform.

The operation of the Chirag platform will be suspended for the scheduled maintenance approximately after two months, he said.

BP, the operator of the project for developing Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of oil and gas fields, suspended the operation of West Azeri platform May 21 to carry out scheduled maintenance.

Oil production at the platform will be suspended for around 22 days, according to the plan.

BP and its partners produced 31.5 million metric tons of oil (233 million barrels) at Azeri-Chirag-Guneshli block of oil and gas fields in 2014, compared to 32.2 million metric tons (239 million barrels) in 2013.

The contract for development of ACG field was signed in 1994.

The shareholders of the project are: BP - 35.78 percent, Chevron - 11.27 percent, Inpex - 10.96 percent, AzACG - 11.65 percent, Statoil - 8.56 percent, Exxon - 8 percent, TPAO - 6.75 percent, Itocu - 4.3 percent and ONGC - 2.72 percent.
