Iran transfers 37 billion ton-kilometer of oil products

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran transferred 37 billion ton-kilometer of oil products to domestic consumers in the past Iranian fiscal year, which ended on March 20, 2015, said Abbas Filsaraei, the deputy director of the National Iranian Oil Products Distribution Company (NIOPDC).

Oil products were transferred via pipelines, tank trucks, as well as vessels, Iran's Shana news agency quoted Filsaraei as saying on July 5.

Some 22.48 billion ton-kilometer of crude oil and byproducts were transferred via pipelines, accounting for 61 percent of total transfers.

Ton-kilometer is a unit of transportation measurement, describing moving 1,000 kg of cargo a distance of 1 km.

Meanwhile, 9.5 billion ton-kilometer of oil products were transferred by tank trucks, and 2.8 billion ton-kilometer of oil products were transferred by rail, he noted.

More than 16.6 billion liters of liquid fuel, comprising 6.640 billion liters of gasoline, 7.263 billion liters of diesel, 2.371 billion liters of fuel oil, and 353.4 million liters of kerosene were consumed in Iran in spring this year.

Iran also consumed 0.5 million tons of liquid petroleum gas (LPG) during the mentioned time.
