The output of the Iranian part of the South Pars gas field has increased to 440 mcm/d, CEO of the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone Mehdi Yousefi said.

He said this figure is expected to reach 800 mcb/d, SHANA news agency reported July 4.

Yousefi added that currently, 25 petrochemical companies are active in the South Pars.

Iran's share of the gas field comprises eight percent of the world's gas reserve, according to Yousefi.

He added that the South Pars accounts for 50 percent of Iran's gas reserve.

The South Pars is a joint gas field of Iran and Qatar. The field on the Iranian side holds 14 trillion cubic meters of gas and has been divided into 29 phases, Phases 1 to 8 have been developed completely, Phases 9 and 10 has been operated, but not to full capacity and Phases 11 to 29 are under construction.
