Baku, Azerbaijan, July 24

By Azad Hasanli - Trend:

The value per share of Turkey's Petkim petrochemical complex has increased from 1.8 Turkish liras to 4.35 liras in the last two years, Rovnag Abdullayev, president of the State Oil Company of Azerbaijan told reporters.

Petkim, in which SOCAR has a share of 61.32 percent, produces plastic packages, fabric, detergents and is the sole Turkish manufacturer of such products, a quarter of which is exported.

The rest of the complex shares are in free circulation on the stock exchange.

"The share prices of Petkim have increased by several times. Therefore, we want to sell them," said Abdullayev.

"We bought them for two liras per share at the time, but now, we are selling them for 4.35 liras which is a normal process," he added.

He said that the shares which SOCAR is selling are not included in the controlling stake which the company owns in the holding.

'We are selling that 10 percent of shares which we bought from Turkish government and through the stock market," said SOCAR's president.

The value of Petkim holding's shares was the highest among 30 shares of large companies listed on the Istanbul Stock Exchange as of 2014.
