Baku, Azerbaijan, Sept. 4

By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Representatives of Repsol, Spain's largest oil company, will travel to Iran next week to talk with officials of the National Iranian Oil Company.

A 70-member Spanish trade delegation is scheduled to arrive in Iran on September 6 for a three-day visit to study investment opportunities in the country, Iran's Mehr news agency reported September 3.

Managers of a number of oil and gas companies, including Repsol, will accompany the delegation.

In 2010, Repsol withdrew from a contract to develop phases 13 and 14 of the giant South Pars gas project in Iran.

Iran's South Pars oil layer and three gas fields will be offered to foreign investors at a conference in London where Iran has planned to unveil its new contract formula, the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC) has quoted an energy official as saying.

The conference planned for December is aimed at attracting international investment into Iran's oil and gas sector, which has $185 billion worth of projects up for grabs, according to the NIOC.
