By Fatih Karimov - Trend: Iran will boost its gasoline output by 4 million liters by the end of the current Iranian fiscal year (March 2016).

Abbas Kazemi, the managing director of the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company, said that the country's gasoline output will be increased once the Bandar Abbas refinery and the Isfahan refinery put their gasoline production units into operation, IRNA news agency reported Oct. 9.

Some 10 million liters of gasoline should be imported per day to meet the domestic market's need, he said, putting the country's gasoline production capacity at 66 million liters.

If the gasoline production unit of the Persian Gulf Star Refinery comes on stream, there will be no need for gasoline imports. Moreover, Iran will be turned into a gasoline exporter, he added.

Gasoline consumption in the past Iranian fiscal year (March 2014-March 2015) and in the current year was nearly unchanged compared to two years ago due to a rise in the consumption of CNG and LPG, he said.

Iran's Oil Minister Bijan Namdar Zangeneh has recently said that the country imports 8 million liters of gasoline per day.
