Small and medium sized oil and gas companies can use Azerbaijan as a logistics center, Rovnag Abdullayev, the President of SOCAR (State Oil Company of Azerbaijan), said at the Azerbaijan -Great Britain cooperation forum Oct. 29.
He said that the activity and the development of small and medium-sized oil and gas companies must not be ignored.
"SOCAR jointly with BP have recently implemented a program to attract local companies and resources to the Shah Deniz-2 project," he said. "The work as part of this project is being implemented in Azerbaijan by joint ventures and alliances established as a result of cooperation between local and foreign companies. The activity and development of small and medium-sized oil and gas companies must not be ignored. It is possible to cooperate with not only SOCAR, but also with private local companies and foreign companies in this area."
"Foreign companies will always be able to find partners in Azerbaijan, which has an advantageous strategic and geographical location," Abdullayev said.
"Azerbaijan can be used by small and medium-sized companies as a logistics center," he said. "Today, there are numerous local oil and gas businesses, which need not only sources of funding, but also international experience. The implementation of these programs will lead to the establishment of joint ventures and expansion of the local economic potential."
