Oil transportation via BTC increases

Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan (BTC) oil pipeline transported 29.21 million tons of Azerbaijani oil in January-October 2015 compared to 29.1 million tons in the same period in 2014, the Azerbaijani State Statistics Committee's report as of Jan.-Oct. said.

BTC accounted for 75.9 percent of the total volume of oil transported via the country's main oil pipelines in Jan.-Oct. 2015, according to the report.

During the reporting period, the country's main oil pipelines transported 38.51 million tons of oil, or 0.2 percent less than in Jan.-Oct. 2014.

The total length of the BТС is 1,768 kilometers including a 443 kilometer-long section running through Azerbaijan, a 249-kilometer long section in Georgia and a 1,076-kilometer long section in Turkey. The construction of the pipeline started in April 2003. It was filled with oil on May 18, 2005.

BTC Co. shareholders are: BP (30.1 percent), AzBTC (25 percent), Chevron (8.9 percent), Statoil (8.71 percent), ТРАО (6.53 percent), Eni (5 percent), Total (5 percent), Itochu (3.4 percent), Inpex (2.5 percent), ConocoPhillips (2.5 percent) and ONGC (2.36 percent).

The South Caucasus Pipeline (Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum) transported 5.36 billion cubic meters of gas in Jan.-Oct. 2015, compared to 5.3 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2014, said the report.

A total of 17.3 billion cubic meters of gas were transported via the country's main gas pipelines in Jan.-Oct. compared to 17.6 billion cubic meters in the same period of 2014, according to the report.

The length of the Baku-Tbilisi-Erzurum gas pipeline exceeds 700 kilometers. The gas produced from the Shah Deniz gas and condensate field in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea is transported via this pipeline. Gas is delivered to Georgia and Turkey.
